Cases of Legitimate Self-Defense in the UAE

1. Defense Against Robbery or Armed Theft
   If a person attempts to break into a house or business and threatens the life of the owner or residents, using force to defend oneself and one’s property is permissible, as long as the violence used is not excessive.

2. Defense Against Physical Assault
   If a person is physically attacked, whether with hands or weapons, they have the right to defend themselves, provided the force used is proportional to the threat.

3. Defense Against Threats of Death or Serious Injury
   If a person is clearly threatened with death and the threat is imminent, they may take necessary actions to defend their life.

4. Defense of Others
   A person is allowed to intervene to protect another individual from an assault, such as rescuing a child or a woman from physical harm, as long as the force used is not excessive.

5. Defense in Cases of Domestic Violence
   In some cases, self-defense within the family may be justified if a member is under a real physical threat.
